Washington:US President Donald Trump said oil prices will drop dramatically when the US wins its conflict with Iran, predicting that gasoline prices could fall below USD 2 per gallon.In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump blamed the rise in energy prices on the ongoing war in the Middle East and said markets will quickly stabilize when the conflict is over.
Oil prices will drop“Oil prices will fall, like everything else falls (but more!), when we WIN the war with Iran. Ultimately less than two dollars a gallon but that’s three dollars a gallon,” Trump said.
Trump also repeated his threat that the United States will not allow Iran to possess a nuclear weapon.“It will all happen fast and Iran will never have a Nuclear Weapon. MAGA!” he added.
Oil prices surged to a near six-week high Monday on the back of tensions between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil transit route accounting for around a fifth of the world’s oil supply in peacetime. Brent crude futures, the global benchmark, rose to about $97 a barrel, up 9 percent over the last five days and up 19 percent over the last month.
Iran warns US against any misadventures in energy facilitiesIranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has warned Washington of harsh consequences should any misadventure be made against Iranian energy facilities. In a post on X, he said Iran's oil and gas production chain is "sprawling, accessible and exposed".
“It’s simple: here the chain of oil and gas production is sprawling, accessible and exposed. That exposure is shared by the companies working in these waters and facilities in American oil and gas. You strike our assets, you get struck. We have already proved it. “Ask the bases that are no longer viable,” Ghalibaf said.
The statement by the Iranian Parliament Speaker came after US Secretary of War Pete Hegseth claimed that Iran’s “oil tanker fleet is defenseless” - in line with Washington’s allegations of destruction of Iran’s navy and air force.

US forces hit three Iranian oil tankers last week after Navy warships were attacked by ballistic missiles. A US aircraft carrier and guided-missile destroyer have successfully avoided a number of “unprovoked Iranian attacks” without any American personnel being injured, US Central Command said.
CENTCOM said its forces then permanently disabled IRGC crude oil carriers M/T Downy off the coast of Kharg Island and M/T Stark 1 near Jask. It said US forces also completely destroyed the unladen crude oil carrier M/T Kylo, also known as the "Noxen", in the Gulf of Oman after ordering its crew to abandon ship.
