Qazi Ahmad Tauqeer, who rose to fame after beating Arijit Singh and winning Fame Gurukul in 2005, has entered Bigg Boss 20. The singer is returning to reality television, 22 years after his big win. Now, Qazi and Afghan Jalebi are trending on the internet. Wonder why? Let's find out.
What's Qazi's relation with Afghan Jalebi?
Everyone is aware of Qazi’s journey on Fame Gurukul, but not many would remember his association with one of the popular songs of Bollywood - Afghan Jalebi. The 41-year-old singer-actor featured prominently in the music video of Afghan Jalebi from the 2015 film Phantom. The song had Katrina Kaif in it and soon became popular after its release. Qazi, however, was not the singer on the track.
Qazi told Salman that he was part of Afghan Jalebi starring Salman Khan. He also performed the song on stage for the superstar and several times after entering the house of BB 20.
Syed Asrar Shah, known as Asrar, sang Afghan Jalebi. The music was composed by Pritam and lyrics were written by Amitabh Bhattacharya.
Qazi is very popular on social media. He has 180K followers on the platform. And his fans are already out there defending his corner on social media. Qazi and His Gurukul Path to Stardom
Qazi featured in the video of the song years after winning Fame Gurukul. He shot to fame after winning the singing reality show along with Ruprekha Banerjee. The two were declared winners on 20 October 2005 and were later known as the “Fame Jodi”.
Interestingly, Fame Gurukul also had a young Arijit Singh as one of its contestants. He would become one of the biggest playback singers in the country.
After Fame Gurukul, Qazi along with Ruprekha gave an album called Yeh Pal. Qazi also sang songs like Karu Kya, Hero. He then began acting and found a part in Take Off. But the movie never saw the light of day.
