A multi-format series between South Africa and Australia is on the cards. The two sides will play three ODIs followed by three Tests. Here should be noted that the two teams will face each other in the first ODI on 24th September.
Games on September 24, 27 and 30 will be played in Durban, Johannesburg and Potchefstroom. The series CSA(Cricket South Africa) announced the squad for the series ahead of the ODI series. The series will be captained by Temba Bavuma, while the squad also includes some stars such as Corbin Bosch, Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock and many more.
Star pacer Kagiso Rabada will be one of the biggest misses in the series. He will, but Gerald Coetzee has been named in his absence. Interestingly, Coetzee has not played an ODI since the ODI World Cup back in 2023 and he would look to do well in his comeback.
Shukri Conrad on the composition of the South Africa squadSouth Africa head coach Shukri Conrad came out and spoke about the batting position of Quinton de Kock and the return of Coetzee in the squad ahead of the series.
Anytime we need him to play, we're gonna play Quinny. "Quinny will play all the ODIs. ODI cricket is probably his best format. “David will play Australia and most likely miss Bangladesh as he has ILT20 commitments,” Conrad was quoted as saying by Cricinfo.
"Great to see Gerald back in the fold and by all accounts he's been bowling nice and quick. KG is out of the ODIs and we are monitoring his rehab all the time. "When we sit down to select a Test squad we will take an informed decision. “He’s tracking nicely, going on reports from physios,” he said.
