The Indian team has produced some brilliant performances in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026. The Women in Blue are yet to lose a match in the tournament, having registered victories against Thailand, Hong Kong and arch-rivals Pakistan too. Interestingly, the side's clash with Pakistan had everyone's attention.
in the clash led by Harmanpreet Kaur. But amidst the unbelievable performances, one of the most talked about moments of the game came in the second innings. India were chasing down a target of 56 runs when Pakistan skipper Fatima Sana removed opener Shafali Verma.
Fatima Sana took her catch and signaled the India opener to walk back to the pavilion. The same has got her into trouble as she has been found in breach of the ICC's Code of Conduct. Note that Fatima Sana has breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel which states “using language, actions or gestures which disparage, or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International Match.”
Therefore, she has been fined 10 per cent of her match fees and also received a demerit point. It is interesting to note that she was caught again within 24 months. Hence, Fatima Sana has accepted the offense and accepted the fine so there is no need for a formal hearing.
India seal semi-final berthThat said, the Women in Blue have confirmed their semi-final spot in the Women’s Asia Cup following their win over Pakistan. They will play the first semi-final and the team that will be their next opponents is yet to be determined.
The semi-final will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 10, and it will be interesting to see who comes out on top and who India will be facing in their next crucial game.
