A multi-format series between Australia and South Africa is in the offing. The two sides will come up against each other in three ODIs and will follow it up with three Test matches. Before the series, CA (Cricket Australia) stepped forward and announced the Australia’s squad for the Test series.
Note that Pat Cummins will be leading the side with likes of Scott Boland, Alex Carey, Cameron Green and many more stars are present in the squad. One of the more notable inclusions has been that of Marnus Labuschagne. , Labuschagne still holds his place in the squad and it could be interesting to see how the move pans out for the side.
In an interesting start to the series, Australia and South Africa will play three ODIs. The two sides will play three Tests after the completion of the ODI series. The first Test begins in Durban on October 9. The second Test will be played in Gqeberha from 18 October and the third and final Test of the series will be played in Cape Town from 27 October.
George Bailey spoke about squad composition post announcementFollowing the squad announcement, CA’s chief selector George Bailey was front and center talking about the make-up and opened up on how balanced the squad is amid the hectic schedule the Aussies face ahead.
“This is a fairly tight three-game series, on the back of six one-day internationals, with only short breaks between the games. “The squad gives us options and balance for each test and the variety of conditions that we may face,” Bailey added.
Australia currently sits on top of the WTC table, but South Africa are not far behind in second place. It will be interesting to see how the two sides will fare in the Test series and if the Proteas can overtake Australia in the points table.
