Duleep Trophy 2026 Final was played between East Zone and South Zone The two teams clashed at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The match began with East Zone winning the toss and opting to bat first. The side began well with Abhimanyu Easwaran and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scoring 72 and 44 runs, respectively.
However. Ishan Kishan came out to bat and delivered the performance of his lifetime and went on to score a double century to his name. Kishan added to the pile of runs for East Zone as he completed his 200 in 270 deliveries and East Zone crossed the score of 550 runs in the first innings.
Kishan scored his double hundred to become the third player in the history of East Zone to score a 200. Arun Lal did it twice in 1986-87 and Saba Karim was unbeaten on 200 in 1995-96.
Kishan now joins elite company with a double century under Anshuman GaekwadInterestingly, Ishan Kishan has become only the second captain in the history of the Duleep Trophy to score a double ton. Anshuman Gaekwad was the first one to do it in the 1987 season and Kishan played brilliantly to join Gaekwad in the list.
Kishan, soon after reaching his 200, changed gears and started attacking the South Zone bowlers. He played a brilliant innings and led from the front as he scored 250 runs off 300 balls before walking back to the pavilion after being retired hurt. He was instrumental in his team reaching over 600 runs in the 128th over.
Interestingly, the clash started day 2 with Ishan Kishan and Kumar Kushagra at the crease. Kushagra was dismissed after reaching his century, scoring 101 off 132 balls.
Moreover, after Kushagra’s release, Kishan took the innings of East Zone in the clash, putting the pressure on South Zone as the side kept adding to their lead in the clash.
