Bristol:India made two changes to the playing XI for the fourth T20I against England at the County Ground, Bristol. “Varun Chakaravarthy and Harshit Rana are ruled out of the match due to injury and Washington Sundar and Prasidh Krishna replace them in the playing XI,” said Captain Shreyas Iyer. The pair are also expected to miss the fifth T20I.
"We've got two changes, two injuries really. “When Varun and Harshit go out, we have Washington and Prasidh coming in,” said Shreyas.
Meanwhile, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has not revealed the details of injuries sustained by Varun and Harshit. But after being bowled out for a paltry 76 runs in the third match of the series, changes were expected in the XI. The management these days prefers to have a longer batting unit and Washington coming into the side has added to that.
India opt to bat firstIndia won the toss and decided to bat. “The surface looks terrific, as England captain Harry Brook said, confirming that they would have liked to have batted first as well. “Yeah, we would have batted first. Looks a very good surface There’s a nice even spread of grass, so we’ll see how it plays, like Shreyas said,” Brook said after the toss.
Still no Sanju SamsonIndia haven't altered the unit despite flopping badly with the bat in the last couple of games. Till now in the five-match series, Tilak Varma has failed to live up to the potential and the team management had an opportunity to bring in Sanju Samson in the middle order but they went against it.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who has debuted earlier in the series, is yet to explode in the international cricket. He has shown glimpses of promise but has failed to deliver. However, Abhishek Sharma has been quite a force. Another loss and the series will go to England and the Indian fans will be hoping for Ishan Kishan and Shryas to be back in the party soon. India will then suffer back-to-back series defeats in T20Is for the first time in seven years.
