New Delhi:Rajkummar Rao's transformation into Sourav Ganguly is here at last. On the legendary cricketer’s birthday, the makers of Dada:The actor's first look was unveiled and the film will hit the cinemas on May 14, 2027 with The Sourav Ganguly Story. Ayushmann Khurrana, who was earlier attached to the project, also praised Rajkummar’s look.
Did Ayushmann Khurrana once play Sourav Ganguly?
Interestingly, the first actor attached to the project wasn’t. Before his confirmation, reports suggested that Ayushmann Khurrana was being considered for the role of the former Indian captain. Though the casting never materialised, the role went to Rajkummar who is helming the much-awaited biopic.
Ayushmann has lauded Rajkummar’s look and dropped a fire emoji in the comments.

Social media is abuzz with mixed reactions to the first look of Rajkummar Rao as Sourav Ganguly. The actor was praised by many fans, who shared their excitement about the biopic, while some felt the poster could have been better.

The biopic will trace Ganguly’s journey from a young cricketer to one of the most powerful captains of India. It aims to celebrate the grit, the leadership and the resilience that helped change Indian cricket and inspired millions of fans.
Dada is The Sourav Ganguly Story, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg. T-Series, DBL and Luv Films present the film which will release worldwide on May 14, 2027.
