Tehran:A Iranian delegation led by the foreign minister will arrive in Pakistan on Friday night for bilateral consultations and to discuss the US-Iran ceasefire and the current developments in the region, officials and media reports said. On Friday, Iran will dispatch a small delegation to Pakistan, Oman and Russia for "bilateral consultations and to discuss current developments in the region, as well as the latest situation" in the US-Iran war, Iran's state-run IRNA news agency reported.
However, it was not clear whether Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Parliament Speaker who headed the Iranian delegation in the first round of peace talks with the US in Pakistan earlier this month, would be in the delegation or not.
Araghchi is scheduled to arrive in Islamabad with a small delegationA high-ranking member of the Shehbaz Sharif government said that Araghchi is likely to come to Islamabad with a small group of people. The official told PTI that "after important talks with the Pakistani mediation team, a second round of peace talks between the US and Iran is likely to take place in Islamabad."
He said that a US logistics and security team is already in Islamabad to help with the talks. The official said that the high-level US delegation would probably arrive here on Saturday night, after the Iranian delegation gets here and talks with the US technical team about how to set up the talks.
Ishaq Dar and Araghchi talked on the phone about the US-Iran ceasefire."But this depends on some kind of agreement being reached with Iran," he said. This news comes just a few hours after Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Araghchi talked on the phone and shared their thoughts on the US-Iran ceasefire and Pakistan's ongoing diplomatic efforts.
The Foreign Office said in a statement that both sides "exchanged views on regional developments, the ceasefire, and ongoing diplomatic efforts being pursued by Islamabad in the context of US-Iran engagement." They did not go into more detail.
Ishaq Dar emphasizes the significance of ongoing dialogue.Dar stressed the need for ongoing dialogue and involvement to deal with unresolved issues in order to promote regional peace and stability as soon as possible. Araghchi thanked Pakistan for always being helpful in this way, and both leaders agreed to stay in touch, the report said.
Iranian news outlets said that Araghchi also talked to Army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday. But the Pakistani side did not confirm this. The first round of talks between the US and Iran on April 11 and 12 did not lead to any progress. This led to a lot of diplomatic activity by host Pakistan to lower tensions and raise hopes for another round of talks.
