Despite the excitement for the film as Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna came together after 29 years in Ikka, (after 1997's Border), the film has failed to impress X users. Several called it an underwhelming experience, with other's struggling to even rate it as a one-time watch.
"A couple of things about Ikka on Netflix," an X user said. It is jarring to see Akshaye Khanna giving only one expression. Think Mhais Marki. Rehman Dakait. Peak detailing is here to stay. Sunny Deol looks every bit of 68 years old. He is at times uncannily like his late father Dharmendra in his later years. Tillotama Shome is excellent as always. All in all an ok movie to watch at home. 'Go in expecting little (or nothing).'
"Ikka on Netflix really disappointed me. Sunny Deol and Akshaye Khanna," read another X review of Ikka. I had high expectations from the movie but it turned out to be average. I was excited to see #SunnyDeol in a lawyer's attire but #AkshayeKhanna was ready as Rahman Dakait from the word go. Bro had only one expression in the entire movie. #IKKA

"Ikka" was reviewed on Friday and verdict is, "Ikka is a decent one-time watch that works best when it focuses on family, sacrifice and difficult choices. But as courtroom drama, it doesn't make much of an impression. If you're after gripping legal arguments, surprising turns and memorable courtroom showdowns, you may be disapointed. Still, there is something to be said for it if you’re looking for emotional storytelling with solid performances. Akshaye Khanna scores the best, with Sunny Deol showing us that even a subdued act can deliver an emotional punch.'
