New Delhi:Rishabh Pant's captaincy at Lucknow Super Giants seems to be under threat as franchise global director of cricket Tom Moody said that the franchise would need to 'consider a reset' on the leadership. This was after yet another poor season for LSG in the Indian Premier League. They were defeated by Punjab Kings in their last match and are looking at a last-place finish in the points table.
LSG have won only four matches this season and have lost three of their last four matches. They, too, crashed out before the playoffs last season, finishing seventh in a 10-team table.
LSG skipper Pant, the costliest player in the history of the tournament, is under the scanner for his unimpressive performances. He has managed to score 312 runs in 13 innings at an average of 28.36 and strike rate of 138.05 with just one fifty to his name. His average and strike rate are both below his career numbers. He has not lived up to his price tag of Rs 27 crore, with which he was bought by the franchise ahead of 2025.
Moody: LSG should consider a resetSpeaking at the post-match press conference after their 10th loss of the season to the PBKS, Moody opened up on the leadership. From a captaincy point of view, you know, he's found it tough, obviously, and the results show that," Moody said at the press conference. "And you have to wonder if that is a pressure that is mirrored with his performance with the bat. I know this year has been a tough year for us, but we’ll look back on it. We’ll take time, we’ll look back on it. We will examine everything.

Langer not satisfied with Pant's seasonMoody was not the first to speak of Pant's performances. Earlier, head coach Justin Langer was upset about the same thing. During a press conference when asked on how he would rate Pant as a captain and a batter, he said: “Yeah, well Rishabh's been around a long time. I think he played in the Indian side from 18-year-old. He knows that, and numbers do not lie. Langer said: “He would be the first to admit that he has had two very disappointing seasons with the bat.
“He’s had some great innings but he’ll be disappointed with those numbers. And you know you expect a lot from your senior players and he'll be, feeling it as much as anyone," he said.
