New Delhi:In a strict action in the Don 3 matter, Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a non-cooperation directive against . This means workers, technicians and members associated with the Federation will, for the time being, refuse to work with Ranveer or any of his projects.
So let's go into the full controversy.
What’s the long story?
The controversy started when Ranveer Singh backed out of Don 3 suddenly. The film was being directed by Farhan Akhtar and preparations for it were in an advanced stage. The shooting schedule was chalked out, locations and crew were all ready. But Ranveer’s exit at the last moment was a big blow to the project.
Differences reportedly emerged between Ranveer Singh and the filmmakers regarding the script. That's why he chose to walk away from the film. Meanwhile, the production house of the film, Excel Entertainment, has claimed that it has faced a financial loss of about Rs 45 crore because of this incident.
Did Ranveer Singh get banned by FWICE?
FWICE Chief Advisor Ashok Pandit said that the film industry functions on trust and expressed concern over the situation. Once an actor is signed for a project, huge preparations begin, custom-made for that actor, with crores of rupees being spent.
When a star is lost to a film (say, at the last minute), the repercussions are not just to the producer, but to hundreds of workers and technicians. That kind of behavior, he said, could be a dangerous precedent for the industry.
What did Aamir Khan have to do with it?
Ashok Pandit also said that the Federation had tried to settle the matter amicably in the beginning. “Ranveer Singh was summoned many times, and notices and reminders were sent to him, but no response was received from his end. He later received an email from his team, which the Federation continues to be unhappy about. "This is not just about one film, but a matter concerning the trust of the entire industry. The Federation wanted Ranveer to come forward personally and present his side of the story.
Several of the industry’s leading names were said to have tried to resolve the dispute, even acting as a mediator, but it was not able to find a resolution.
