Kolkata:Kolkata Knight Riders batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of the 2026, confirmed last night. The 21-year-old fractured a finger on his left hand and is expected to be out of action for at least three months. He is the highest run-getter for Kolkata this season, scoring 422 runs in 12 innings at a strike rate of 146.52 and his absence is bound to hurt the team in the final league game against Delhi Capitals and also possible playoffs.
Incidentally, Raghuvanshi had got injured during the high voltage match against Mumbai Indians at Eden Gardens. In one of his attempts to catch, he collided with Varun Chakaravarthy and had a minor concussion. However, the cricketer decided to move on. But he had to leave the field at last, because of a finger injury towards the end of the first innings. Tejasvi Dahiya succeeded him.
Raghuvanshi is ruled out for the season now and the question is who can possibly come into the XI in place of him. "It's a tricky situation given that Raghuvanshi was KKR's first choice keeper this time." Finn Allen can do the job comfortably, but the New Zealand international isn’t fully fit to keep wickets, and hence KKR are using him as an Impact Player this season. But with no other alternative the three-time champions may have to play Allen in goal.
Here are three cricketers who can replace Raghuvanshi when it comes to batting front:
3. Sarthak Ranjanplayed a crucial role in KKR’s win against MI but he isn’t the perfect number three batter at this time. Manish's game suited the wicket as it was on a slower side, but someone like Sarthak Ranjan meets the demands of modern cricket. The 29-year-old had a good run in the 2025 edition of the Delhi Premier League, aggregating 449 runs in nine innings at a strike rate of 146.73. Three would suit him down to the ground.
2. Ramandeep SinghCameron Green or Anukul Roy can move up to number three and Ramandeep Singh can be slotted in the middle order. Batting in the top order for Jharkhand, Anukul scored 303 runs at a strike rate of over 160 in 10 innings. Green would be a great choice if it wasn't him. He’s got a lot of experience, a guy who is out there to prove his mettle.”
1. Tripathi, RahulRahul Tripathi is a straight replacement for Angkrish Raghuvanshi. He has played for the franchise before but its his current form which is a concern. However, if KKR doesn’t want any changes to the winning combination, Tejasvi can very well continue at the lower end of the order and also provide the keeping option in case Allen doesn’t.
