Padma Awards 2026: President Murmu to felicitate Dharmendra, Mammootty, Madhavan and other icons today

Some of India’s biggest names from cinema, music and theatre are all set to be honoured at the Padma Awards 2026 ceremony in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu will give out the awards at the first Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan today, May 25.

The Government of India announced a total of 131 Padma Awards this year with five Padma Vibhushan awards, 13 Padma Bhushan awards and 113 Padma Shri awards. The awards recognise people who have made outstanding contributions in fields ranging from arts and literature to sports, science, medicine and public service.

Late actor Dharmendra is among the biggest names to be honoured this year, who will be awarded the Padma Vibhushan posthumously. Dharmendra is considered as one of the most iconic stars in Hindi cinema with memorable performances in films like Sholay, Chupke Chupke and Phool Aur Patthar. His career in Indian cinema stretched over decades, and his work is loved by generations of moviegoers.
