New Delhi:Shaktimaan, a children’s show, was immensely popular in the 90s and 2000s and even today it has a huge fan following. And that is exactly the reason why there has been a lot of talk about a film adaptation of Shaktimaan. The actor’s name had also been floated in connection with the project often but he did not approve of the Dhurandhar actor for the role.
In the meantime, there was also buzz that Allu Arjun's much-awaited forthcoming film, in collaboration with Basil Joseph, is based on Shaktimaan. For the uninitiated, Basil earlier directed Tovino Thomas's superhero film Minnal Murali, which released in 2021 and turned out to be a huge success. But the filmmakers have now put out a clarification regarding the much-awaited project starring Allu Arjun.
Is the film inspired by Shaktimaan?
Speaking on Club FM 94.3, director Arun Anirudhan, who directed Tovino and Basil’s recent film Athiradi, said he is open to working on Shaktimaan with the filmmaker-actor duo. "Paulson (Skaria) and I were writing screenplay for Basil's next movie," he said.
“Unfortunately filming could not start,” the filmmaker said. Shaktimaan was ready for the big league. I don't know if it will ever be made or not. It's a very complicated situation.
When asked if the project they are working on, which is yet to be announced, is Shaktimaan, the director clarified, “No, it has nothing to do with Shaktimaan. It is quite something different. “All the updates about the film will be shared very soon.”
Basil Joseph on Creating Shaktimaan
When Basil Joseph was recently asked about his next movie with Allu Arjun in a chat with Cineulagam, he gave an evasive answer. He said: “We shall see what happens.” Asked if the project in question was Shaktimaan, he did not come out with a definitive “yes”.
However, he refused to go into any further detail about the movie, saying that he could not speak about it now because it is a very uncertain process. But he promised he would talk about it when the time was right.
Mukesh Khanna on Allu Arjun as Shaktimaan
The speculation about Allu Arjun playing the role of Shaktimaan continues, for the most part because Mukesh Khanna himself had named Allu Arjun as the one who can play the role the best. This is unlike Mukesh Khanna’s vocal disagreement with Ranveer Singh playing the role of Shaktimaan.
"I am not saying anything with full confidence right now, but I feel Allu Arjun would be a great Shaktimaan," Mukesh Khanna said in 2024. He has the right look and build for the part.'
