Washington:In a speech to the nation on Friday, US President Donald Trump said that the US will step up its military campaign against Iran in the coming weeks, even though talks are still going on behind the scenes. He said with a lot of force that the US will bring Iran back to the Stone Age because it will hit them very hard in the next two to three weeks.
Trump says that Iran's oil infrastructure could still be a target. He also said that Iranian oil infrastructure is still a possible target and that the US "could hit their oil" if necessary. He did say, though, that the diplomatic channels are still open and that talks are still going on as Washington decides what to do next.
"I have made it clear from the start of Operation Epic Fury that we will keep going until we reach all of our goals," Trump said. I can say tonight that we are on track to finish all of America's military goals very soon, thanks to the progress we've made. We're going to hit them really hard for the next two to three weeks. We're going to take them back to the stone age, where they belong. In the meantime, people are still talking. We didn't want to change the regime. We never said regime change, but it has happened because all of their original leaders have died. They're all dead. The new group is less radical and much more reasonable.”
The US is slowly taking away Iran's ability to threaten the US.Trump said that the US is slowly taking away the regime's ability to threaten the US or project power beyond its borders. This includes destroying Iran's navy and damaging its air force and missile program.
He said, "Iran's plan was clear: they wanted to make as many long-range missiles as they could and were racing to get a nuclear weapon." They were right outside the door. People have been saying for years that Iran can't have nuclear weapons, but those are just words. As I said during Operation Epic Fury, our goals are clear: we are methodically taking away the regime's ability to threaten the United States or project power beyond its borders. That means getting rid of Iran's navy, hurting its air force and missile program, and destroying its defense industrial base. We have done everything; their navy is gone, their air force is gone, and their missile capabilities are almost gone. These actions will hurt Iran's military, stop supporting terrorist groups, and take away theirThey were right outside the door.
People are blowing up Iran's rocket launchers and weapons factories. He said, "Weapons factories and rocket launchers are being blown to pieces—very few of them are left," and he said that the United States is "winning bigger than ever before."
Trump also said that his confrontational approach, which included pulling out of the 2015 multilateral nuclear deal, kept the region from falling apart. He said that the earlier agreement "would have led to a huge stockpile of huge nuclear weapons for Iran," and he said that "they would have had them years ago and used them" if he hadn't stepped in.
"It would have been a different world." The President said, "There would be no Middle East and no Israel right now."
Trump said that "taken together, these actions will cripple Iran militarily," explaining the current tactical situation. He said that the goal of the mission is to "crush their ability to support terrorist proxies and deny them the ability to build a nuclear bomb." He also said that "our armed forces have been extraordinary."
