New Delhi:Fresh rumours surrounding Spider-Man: Brand New Day sent Marvel fans into a frenzy after claims surfaced that the Indian version of the film had been trimmed by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, Sony Pictures Entertainment India has now stepped in to clear the air, saying the reports are completely inaccurate because the film has not even been submitted for certification yet.

The speculation began when eagle-eyed fans spotted different runtimes appearing on cinema websites. The film’s runtime was listed as 2 hours and 30 minutes in international chains like Cineworld but on PVR’s website, it was briefly listed as 2 hours and 25 minutes.
AdvertisementThe five-minute gap was enough to spark rumours that the CBFC had ordered cuts for the Indian release. Sony Pictures Entertainment India put an end to the chatter by clarifying that no certification process has been initiated till now.
“We love the excitement around Spider-Man: Brand New Day! said the studio in an official statement addressing the rumors. To put speculation doing the rounds on social media to rest: The film has not been submitted to the CBFC in India as yet and all reports about certification are inaccurate. Spider-Man Brand New Day India release date
The film releases on July 31. But the movie won’t be coming out in IMAX.The move is believed to be linked to the release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which hits cinemas two weeks before Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film has been shot entirely on IMAX cameras and will have an exclusive IMAX run in multiple markets including India.
Sony Pictures confirmed the development and stated, "While there will be no IMAX release of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in India, the film will be available on premium large-format (PLF) screens for an epic big-screen experience.
