New DelhiWith the terrifying series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, which stars Camila Morrone and Adam DiMarco as Rachel and Nicky, OTT behemoth Netflix has done it once more. A young couple who go on a romantic vacation ends up being involved in something far darker. A fatal family curse is at the center of the narrative. A terrible illness connected to Rachel's ancestry lies at the heart of the narrative.
After losing her groom many generations ago, an ancestor struck a desperate bargain with Death. She promised that every future generation would have to wed their true soulmate before dusk on their wedding day in exchange for bringing him back. If they don't, they will die horribly. Interesting, don't you think? Understand the plot and resolution of the eight-episode series.
Plot: Something Horrible Is About to Happen
Rachel is eventually affected by the curse, which spreads throughout the family. She is aware of the threat, but Nicky finds it hard to accept that it exists and dismisses it as fear rather than reality.
Tension is in the air as the wedding day approaches. When Rachel realizes there is not much time left, she gets anxious. The curse is applied when delays cause the ceremony to take place close to dusk.
The subsequent events are startling. Nicky's family members start to bleed to death, particularly those who are unsure about their own marriages. Beyond Rachel, the curse feeds on ambiguity and emotional fissures in interpersonal bonds.
The conclusion is that something terrible is going to happen.
Nicky decides to proceed with the wedding in an attempt to put an end to the mayhem. But it's already too late at this point. More lives have been lost, including his sister, and the damage has already been done. There is a ceremony, but it is no longer about love. It turns into a desperate act motivated more by fear than by faith.
Nicky and Rachel's future
But Nicky is still able to get away with his life. The reason is that he believes without a doubt that Rachel is his true soulmate. Rachel's sad fate is much worse than Nicky's because she no longer believes that Nicky is her true soulmate by the time of her wedding. This is what will kill her from the start. After the wedding, she dies from being out in the snow.
A scary turn of events at the end
In a scary turn of events, Rachel comes back to life, but not as herself. She comes back to life as a new Witness, forced to watch weddings in her family and see the same tragedy happen again.
In the last scenes, Rachel looks eerily calm. She tells a young relative in her family to be careful when choosing a partner, and then she leaves quietly. Rachel drives away from the wreckage of her wedding, accepting her fate. This is a sign that the curse is far from over.
