Delhi, New Delhi:One of the most prominent film nights in Britain will have a significant Indian presence as an Indian actor is scheduled to present an award at the 79th edition of the BAFTA Awards. The ceremony is scheduled for February 22 at London's Royal Festival Hall.
Alia will join a dazzling list of guest presenters that includes Alicia Vikander, Cillian Murphy, Emily Watson, and Ethan Hawke, according to the organizers. In the UK, BBC One and BBC iPlayer will broadcast the awards, which are officially known as the EE BAFTA Film Awards and honor excellence in international filmmaking.
Alia's appearance is in line with other Indian celebrities who have previously given presentations at the ceremony.
Presenters at BAFTA 2026
Alia Bhatt is the only Indian celebrity on the list of award presenters that BAFTA released on Tuesday. In addition to her, prominent Hollywood celebrities will present awards at this year's BAFTA Awards. Bryan Cranston, Aaron Pierre, Cillian Murphy, Amy Lou Wood, Alicia Vikander, Noah Jupe, Olivia Cooke, Patrick Dempsey, Rege-Jean Page, Ethan Hawke, Gillian Anderson, Glenn Close, Hannah Waddingham, Kate Hudson, Kathryn Hahn, Kerry Washington, Little Simz, Maggie Gyllenhaal, David Johnson, Delroy Lindo, Emily Watson, Stormzy, Warwick Davis, Erin Doherty, Stellan Skarsgard, Michael B. Jordan, Myles Catton, Millie Alcock, Minnie Driver, Monica Bellucci, Sadie Sink, and Riz Ahmed are among them.
Boong will participate in important international competitions.
In addition to Alia, filmmaker Lakshmipriya Devi will be present at the ceremony because her Manipuri-language film Boong has been nominated for Best Children's and Family Film. Supported by actor-producers Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, the movie will go up against animated science fantasy Arco and Disney releases Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia 2.
Boong follows Gugun Kipgen, a young child from the Manipur valley, as he embarks on a sentimental quest to give his mother a unique present. On a global scale, this is a historic moment for the regional Indian film industry.
