Following the White House shooting, Trump attacks Biden and Harris for the "unchecked" immigration inflow: "Screwed our nation"
Washington

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump attacked Joe Biden, his predecessor, and Kamala Harris, Biden's deputy, for "screwing the country" by allowing immigrants to enter the country "unchecked and unvetted." This followed the shooting deaths of two West Virginia National Guard members in the vicinity of the White House, which was purportedly carried out by an Afghan man.

"Crooked Joe Biden, Mayorkas, and so-called 'Border Czar' Kamala Harris really screwed our Country by letting anyone and everyone come in totally unchecked and unvetted," Trump posted on Truth Social.

DHS criticizes the Biden administration

Biden's administration was also chastised by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), which claimed that the former president had committed a "act of national self-sabotage" by allowing immigrants to enter the nation.

"This nation should never have been home to the monster that carried out the attack in Washington, DC. In an act of national self-sabotage, the Biden Administration allowed him and many others to participate. With immediate effect, all immigration requests pertaining to Afghan nationals will no longer be processed while security and vetting procedures are further reviewed, according to Homeland Security.

Since Joe Biden oversaw the processing of the accused's application to enter the United States, Kristi Noem, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, claimed that Biden was accountable for the death of National Guard member Sarah.

"The Joe Biden administration initiated this person's application to enter the country. "Joe Biden and his administration bear direct responsibility for the shooting and Sarah's death," she stated.

Shooting close to the White House

The shooting incident occurred on Wednesday before Thanksgiving, killing 20-year-old West Virginia National Guard Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and seriously injuring 24-year-old Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe. Lakanwal, 29, was taken into custody and accused of first-degree murder.

Lakanwal was a member of an Afghan Army "Zero Unit," a special force that collaborated closely with US soldiers, prior to his arrival in the US. Following the US withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021, he entered the US through Operation Allies Welcome. Later, he, his wife, and their five young sons relocated to Bellingham, Washington.

He was having trouble adjusting to life in America, though, according to emails sent to the US Committee for Refugees and Immigrants (USCRI).
