LondonAccording to an official on Sunday, a 30-year-old Indian student was fatally stabbed during a street attack in central England. Vijay Kumar Sheoran, a resident of Haryana's Charkhi Dadri district, was identified as the victim.
The West Mercia Police said in a statement that the incident most likely happened late on Monday, November 24. Sheoran was discovered at 4:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 25, with severe injuries. He was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he passed away.
Five men were detained by the police in relation to Sheoran's murder, but they were later freed on bond. A sixth individual was detained as well, but they were later freed. The inquiry is still in progress.
Detective Chief Inspector Lee Holehouse of West Mercia has made an appeal for information. He has also sent Sheoran's friends and family his condolences.
According to news agency PTI, Holehouse stated, "Over the course of the last few days my team have been conducting extensive lines of enquiries to ascertain what happened on Tuesday morning and what led to a man losing his life."
"Officers will stay on Barbourne Road over the weekend as part of these investigations, and I would like to reassure the community that this is to continue gathering evidence and the public should not be alarmed," Holehouse continued.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Charkhi Dadri MLA Sunil Satpal Sangwan has also expressed his condolences to Sheoran's family and urged the central government to step in and help the victim's relatives right away.
"Deeply shocked and saddened by the tragic death of Vijay Kumar Sheoran, an Indian student from Village Jagrambas, District Charkhi Dadri (Haryana), who lost his life following a brutal stabbing incident in Worcester, United Kingdom," Sangwan wrote in a social media post. "In order to ensure that justice is done and the offenders are held strictly accountable, we also appeal for an open, equitable, and timely investigation."
