Shree Charani cracks Kuldeep Yadav in Asia Cup semi-final against Bangladesh

, spinner Shree Charani became the fastest Indian bowler to complete 50 wickets in T20Is. She reached the landmark in 29 T20Is and with that, the 22-year-old surpassed Kuldeep Yadav, who achieved the feat in 30 matches. Charani’s record now stands as the fastest by an Indian player across men’s and women’s cricket.

Meanwhile, the youngster reached the milestone in power play. Charani also had the honor of dismissing the Bangladesh opener Juairiya Ferdous in the sixth over of the innings. Ferdous tried to hit the ball along the line but got an edge to the delivery that turned across her. Wicket-keeper Richa Ghosh ran across and finally completed the catch.

Charani followed it up with a maiden over. She kept the pressure on with a disciplined line outside off stump. Mostary Sobhana was repeatedly forced to play at deliveries without getting the chance to score freely. Meanwhile, Charani finished her spell for mere 14 runs in four overs.

India win by 40 runs

Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bowl first at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. India lost Smriti Mandhana early for just two runs, but Shafali Verma took over the business since then. She scored a sensational 64 runs but the Haryana batter had little support from the other end.

Pratika Rawal and Harmanpreet Kaur were struggling to keep up with the run rate. Toward the fag end, Richa Ghosh and Deepti Sharma scored 21 and 13 runs respectively as India posted 149 runs on board.

But Bangladesh lost wickets at regular intervals in their chase. The Indian spinners were running the show from the powerplay itself and the Nigar Sultana-led side could not fightback. Deepti took three wickets, Nandani Sharma picked up two and India won by 40 runs in the end.
