In a big move, former Sri Lanka pacer Chaminda Vaas and former India spinner Amit Mishra will join the coaching staff of Delhi Capitals ahead of the IPL (Indian Premier League) 2027. Interestingly, Chaminda Vaas will be the bowling coach of Delhi Capitals ahead of the season.
Amit Mishra will join the side’s coaching staff next season. Sourav Ganguly will be head coach, Yuvraj Singh the batting coach and the side will hope to do well with a revamped coaching staff next season as they look to bring their maiden IPL title home.
Chaminda Vaas is one of the most respected names in Sri Lankan cricket, and has a wealth of experience. One of the most dangerous bowlers of his era with 355 Test wickets and 400 in ODIs, Vaas will look to impart his knowledge to Delhi Capitals in the next edition of IPL as well.
Vaas and Mishra duo have reportedly started their coaching roles, and are working in Delhi with Delhi Capitals’ academy players too. It will be interesting to see if the pair can make a difference for Delhi Capitals ahead of the new season.
Delhi Capitals had a forgettable season in 2027.Talking about IPL 2026, once again the Delhi Capitals started on a positive note but the side’s season was derailed midway. The team was again unable to reach the knockout stage of the tournament and was eliminated in the group stage itself.
The side ended up sixth in the table. Delhi Capitals, who had played 14 matches, won 7 and lost the same number to finish with 14 points and behind Punjab Kings, Rajasthan Royals, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
Delhi Capitals are still searching for their first IPL title and it will be interesting to see what the IPL 2027 season brings for the side and if the changes in the coaching staff can bring about some change.
