New Delhi:The Chinese entertainment industry is mourning the death of 33-year-old actor Jin Ze. His talent agency, Shengshi Guangnian Culture Co, Ltd, announced on June 6, 2026, that he had passed away unexpectedly, shocking not only Jin Ze’s fans but also his fellow artists in the industry.
The agency said in an official brief that Jin Ze died June 4 in Hangzhou, China, but did not provide any information about the cause of death.

“We announce with profound sorrow that our contracted actor Jin Ze (Zhang Jiawei) passed away at his home in Hangzhou on June 4, 2026,” the management agency said in an official statement, delivering the sad news of Jin Ze's death.The agency also described him as a fine young actor and model, and offered their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
The firm also appealed for urgent respect for the family’s privacy amid the difficult moment, the Global Times reported. They requested people not to spread any kind of rumor about their client so that they could make arrangements for the funeral without any distraction.

Who was Jin Ze?
Jin Ze, whose birth name is Zhang Jiawei, was born on January 30, 1993 in Weihai, Shandong Province. The rising star first gained fame as a fashion model before he made a career shift to acting. In fact he enjoyed a successful acting career, appearing in a wide range of mainstream television productions and more recently the burgeoning field of short form drama.
The actor gained recognition from audiences through starring in a series of popular romantic dramas including Hello Joann, Forget You Remember Love, Begin Again, Legally Romance, Beauty Reborn and Don’t Negotiate with Your Boss. His endearing performances in these productions earned him great popularity with fans of contemporary romantic drama.
Jin Ze has recently found another career path in short-form vertical drama, arguably one of the fastest growing sectors in China’s entertainment industry. Unfortunately, however, some of his forthcoming works in this field were not yet out when he died.
